Marjorie Moskowitz - My Lily

oil - 40'' x 30''

My work examines mark making and the nuances of color and light in nature. These paintings involve the close observation of aspects of landscape and the amplification of these images. There is a moment in time, and in nature, when plants are at the peak of their reproductive cycle. They are fully asserting their seductive beauty/perfection/ splendor/ripeness. This body of work magnifies and reveals the smaller components of flora by close observation and the amplification of otherwise worthy and significant flowering.

Birgit Deuschle - Banana Plant

acrylic on canvas - 150 x 120 x 3,5 cm

Bigui was born 1967 as Birgit Deuschle in Germany. Her artistic career started in 2000. In this year Bigui moved from Germany to Brazil and stayed there within a decade. Inspired by the culture, nature and colors Bigui was searching for ways to express herself and found a friend, teacher and mentor in the Brazilian artist Nanci Bastos. Over the next years Bigui and Nanci Bastos worked closely together and Bigui developed her own personal style. The richness of nature, the bright sunlight, the overwhelming palette of natural colors formed and shaped the subjects of Bigui's paintings, her technique and the intense colors of her artworks up to today. Today Bigui lives and works as an artist in Coburg, Germany. Her style has not changed. In her mind each artwork starts in Brazil, it develops itself, layer by layer, evolves around repeating subjects of nature, bright colors, the spirit of a 'new world' until she is satisfied with the expression of her painting and it is ready to receive a polished finish. She is a member of the Bund Bildender Künstler (German Association of Visual Artists) GEDOK Franken and KUNST STUTTGART INTERNATIONAL e.V. Over the years Bigui has received invitations to both, national and international exhibitions as well as art fairs and art projects and her artwork has been recognized with the Palm Art Award in 2017 and the Recognition Prize 2018. "So I said to myself – I´ll paint what I see – what the flower is to me but I´ll paint it big and they will be surprised into taking time to look at it.“ Georgia O´Keeffe | 1939

Lisa Freeman Wood - Rose Series 20

watercolor - 8'' x 10''

I love flowers. I love the graceful lines of flowers, the way they grow in space. They have a presence. As Henry Beecher Ward said, “Flowers are the sweetest things God ever made and forgot to put a soul into.” There is beauty and function in a flower. Flowers play a vital role in the continuity of nature, in the creation of seeds. I particularly love roses. I know many are hybridized or modified but they don’t know or care, they just bloom, taking shape and existing in space with abandon. I take my own photos of flowers in order to paint them. My friends and husband know I stop for flowers everywhere and have taken many pictures of flowers in my friend’s gardens. I love the beauty of flowers, the many shapes and colors they come in. I try to honor their ephemeral nature by painting them as close to real as possible so their fleeting life is captured. I started a Rose Series in December 2019. Painting beauty is particularly vital to me because I live surrounded by the devastation and destruction of the Camp Fire, Paradise, CA, that occurred Nov. 8, 2018.

Pamela Clements - In Blue Blazes

colored pencil - 14'' x 11'

I love walking through the woods searching for a glimpse of nature consisting of a little something extra, what I call ‘a purple leaf’ or inspiration, for my natural still life colored pencil artworks. I am fascinated by natural objects composed by nature, time and conditions that reveal this uniquely beautiful but seldom noticed natural world. The aesthetic beauty of leaves, diverse in types, shapes and colors, combined with elements of earth, water and stone, are my purple leaf and the reason I look forward to discoveries within each step, with every new step, and to the next patch of woods. Frank Lloyd Wright said it best: “Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you.” While the foliage of woodland trees keeps me returning to the natural world, it’s the beautiful organic lines, the rich earth colors, the dramatic lighting, and the interesting textures that keep me there. I love to hear the sound of leaves rustling in the wind, the smell of moist soil, and an overall feeling of tranquility while walking through the woods. Nature does not stand still but I strive to capture the special moments of beauty, of absolute wonder, and serenity of nature in my still life artworks.
