YELLOW ART SHOW

Grey Cube Gallery proudly presents the second Yellow online art show for the month of November 2022. The show encompassed a range of artistic styles and mediums (oil on canvas, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, gouache, photography, digital). Each submission has been judged based on the following elements of artistic expression: orginality and quality of art, overall design, creativity, interpretation of the theme, demonstration of artistic ability and usage of medium. Out of all entries, 136 artworks were shortlisted for inclusion in the show. The competition attracted entries from many countries across the world: USA, Austria, Hong Kong, Ireland, Canada, Germany, Australia, Singapore and Serbia. Enjoy the show and thank you for expressing an interest in our competition.

"I am part of these artists who search for the inspiring image---if by nothing else then by illustrating how visually beautiful life can be. That’s why I simply paint the scenes and objects that I find both beautiful and compelling. When conceptualizing every composition, I select subjects that give me a thrill and appeal to me aesthetically. It could be because of an object’s texture, color, shape, or the light reflects, transparencies and contrasts or the character of a human face that beckon me to paint it. My approach to art is both traditional and contemporary with an emphasis on technique and fine craftsmanship. In fact, I do not aspire to “Photo Realism”; I prefer an observer saying to me: "This seems to be alive!" Hyperrealist painting is so much more than a photo!" I can be very well-disciplined in matters of technique, yet my approach to composition is almost automatically intuitive. My purpose is to connect the viewer sensually to the subject, find beauty and order in a meditative way. I believe painting is a process of seeing and feeling. As a contemporary artist working in a traditional style, my greatest challenge is how to integrate modern art and traditional painting with simplicity and sobriety. I try to express my own vision while focusing on the subject and the encompassing reality.

That is the ultimate in self expression." To take the seemingly mundane things in everyday life, take my brush and like magic turn them into something special that warrants a second look...that is so rewarding!

THIRD PLACE

Bob Moskowitz - Jewel

oil - 48'' x 36''

If there is power in the mundane, I attempt to record moments of human significance in the commonplace. The work suggests aspects of the human condition in context with the subject’s culture which can be revealed through observation and a peeling back of the layers. Although the subjects mask their emotions and feelings, close observation begins to reveal the specifics of content and meaning. The viewer is a participant in the un-masking of the innermost and universal motivations of people who would be otherwise be un-observed and ignored.
