Kwong Tim Lee - Awakening

acrylic on linen - 48'' x 36''

In my spare time I would paint, and what began as a creative outlet eventually developed into my personal style. The idea “Hong Kong in a Better Light” has been in my head for quite sometime, Hong Kong is slowly disappearing; many old buildings have been demolished to make room for the modern skyscraper -- for the sake progress. If I can capture all these images, I thought, then this will live on forever for others to appreciate, enjoy, and defend!

Shawna Hinkel - Taking Shelter

photography

Shawna Hinkel is an award-winning photographer from Dallas, Texas. She received her Certification from Professional Photographers of America (PPA) in 2014 and her Master of Photography degree in 2019. Her work has been accepted in the PPA International Photographic Competition Annual Exhibition every year since 2016, with images published in the annual Showcase Collection and Loan Collection books as well. She was the Dallas Professional Photographers Association Photographer of the Year in 2017 and 2018, and was named as one of the Top 10 photographers in Texas in 2020. She also received the American Society of Photographers’ State Elite Award in 2020. She has won a variety of other awards, and has been featured in multiple art gallery exhibitions. There are so many wonderful animals in the world. Some are jovial and funny, some are shy and reserved. It is amazing to watch them interact with each other and observe how much like humans they are. They show a variety of personalities and emotions. Spending the time to get to know them and see their individuality is very rewarding. I hope more people can find a deeper understanding and affection for them. If we spent more effort helping to save them and their environments, what a better world it would be.

Natalie Oliphant - Eveline

sculpture - 44'' x 21'' x 27''

As an emerging eco conscious artist, I see the value in repurposing thousands of discarded items. From my mannequin body forms, to pieces of memorabilia, I create portals to my memories. Many of my themes are not exclusive to my life. We all need to feel a connection to someone or something. We all need to feel compassion and deep empathy to the trials and tribulations of others. So much emotion can be read in body language. Posture and position of the human physique reveals a relatable story. The pain of infertility, the deep sadness of rejection, the cutting emotion of grief are recognized and celebrated in each of my works. I am committed to saving items from the landfill and letting their beauty live on.
